Who needs iphone?

who needs an iphone when u got this!? it;s made by Meizu, a chinese company that makes portable mp3 and multi-media players. I say this design is smiliar to the iphone, but i dun care if u say this is a rip-off or copy, but this company can make it smaller than the iphone, cheaper than iphone, just as nice as the iphone. This goes to show how much Apple had been trying to squeeze your hard-earned money from u everytime u decided to slurge on their expensive products. Anyway, both the iphone and meizu one will be on sale early next year, guess who will win? Apple of course, cos of all u posers out there!

I'm not a iphone fan, but what you said is definitely NOT true... though it may seem Apple is squeezing hard-earned $$ out of consumers, they're actually paying for an experience as a result of a successful product development and thought process.

The China copiers wouldn't have anything to start with, let alone "do better", if not for the original makers. How do U like it if its your development effort, and someone just simply leech on your work and "makes it better"?

Shame on you to compliment such act considering your profession. *pui*

now to make it clearer, maybe this china company did not leech off apple's design in the first place. Cos this design was shown to the public way before apple announces their iphone to the public. So by right, and in fact, apple could be leeching off someone;s design. But of cos a company like apple wouldn;t do that, onli chinese company leeches ppl off. That;s what most ppl like to thing. Apple is God, NOT!

to reply to your comment, "How do U like it if its your development effort, and someone just simply leech on your work and "makes it better?"

well if someone leeches my work and makes it better, means i did not do a good enough product and should learn from the leechers how to better myself.. Anyway, apple leeches the trademark "iphone" name from cisco. No one is free from the LEECH tagline nowadays.

The Chinese are well known for reverse engineering, taking a well designed product from another company and then copying it. Notice those unbranded mp3 players with absolutely no customer support? They are from China.

Buying things from Apple does not mean we're posers but that we recognise the creativity that Apple puts into its product. Notice how Creative took their market lead for granted in the mp3 market with their Jukebox until Apple came along with their iPod? Now Creative is the one copying all the shit.

Creativity and courage to invent something new should be lauded. Blatant copying and R.E is no big deal, just something lazy people do.

As for who came out with the design 1st, I'm not sure. Until the day Chinese products can convince me that the quality is there and they are not fly by night companies, I will pretty much ignore them.

Yahhh, like real you'll admit you you din do a good enough product and learn from the leechers... aren't bloggers suppose to speak the truth?
Anyway, bottomline - the one who can "make believe" wins. Agree that Apple is NOT God... Just that the act of copying cheapens our believe in DESIGN... As a designer, we want the spirit, as a consumer, we like the varieties.

p/s Wednesday soccer still on.

To Anonymous,
You have a point... until the part abt Creative "copying all the shit"...I'm not a big fan of the local firm, but it just goes to show the shallow side of you in understanding "business culture vs design process". Blah, blah, blah..

Apple got varieties meh? always the same cube with big round thing in the middle.. anyway, i still like the Meizu design.. cleaner and smaller.. oh am sure it has 3G.. apple? NOT.

I'll appreciate if you could enlighten me about the business culture and design process please. Thanks!

Alamak.. I'm not saying Apple has varieties...I'm saying identical products like Meizu gives more varieties on top of what companies like Apple can provide, that is a fact, yet in the design sense, we want to preserve the value of good quality design and development.

Well, as a layman-consumer, I too may consider Meizu if the eventual product can be in good quality and of value to my $$.
