self-reliance in Seoul, Korea.
it;s Saturday, not much work, and the rest of my colleagues were out sight-seeing. I opt to stay in hotel. Was having a bad headache just now, guess the late working hours is bad for health. heh.. imagine returning to your hotel room only at 11plus am everynight. Anyway, there;s a difference between a business trip and a holiday. The mood is just not there to go out and have fun. Furthermore, the project is in jeopardy and i might just return back home tomorrow instead of Tuesday as planned..
Who says Korean food is nice? Come try the food i have been eating and u will agree with me it;s not. Cos i am in the client;s office, i eat my meals in the staff canteens, as with all other Koreans. I tell u, choice is not a luxury there. 3 dishes, 1 soup and rice is your only choice. there is no choice for u to choose, just take the tray, metal spoon, metal chopsticks(i hate), Q up, take the food which was dispensed to you by the kitchen staffs, sit down, finish the food, clear the plates yourself, and grab a cup of weird Korean tea(i think). Food in the army is way much better! Some of the dish is extra spicy i tell u, even my Korean colleagues said so. Buay tahan.
I noticed, all the Korean workers will finish all the food which they take, Men and Women alike. Seems like they are not a bunch of wasteful lot. And yes, i dun like kimchi and all the pickled vegetables served everytime. Dishes containing any meat is quite scarce in the staff canteens. Maybe it;s cheaper or maybe it;s the way of life of the Koreans. They seemed to prefer vege? Guess maybe it's due to the fact that that they were at war 30 odd years ago and somehow, what they eat during those hard times had become a way of life for them now.
I noticed also, you can hardly find any foreign workers here. In singapore, there;s always FTs (foreign talents) in almost every occupation, some more some less. Down here, from executives to your humble plate cleaners are Koreans. i believe Singapore is a unique case where we think that we are too good for certain jobs that we need foreign talents/foreign labourers to help us achieve efficiency in our society? What if 1 day, they are all gone? Maybe their salary in their country gets much better and the idea of going overseas to work for a living is not feasible to them anymore. Who will we rely on to clean up our mess everywhere? Who will build our houses for us to live in? Dun we have to rely on ourselves again, like we used to do ourselves many years ago? Dun worry, it will not happen, because there;s always the rich and the poor in the world. the rich will always gets to enjoy the hardship of the poor who slogs so much more for a meagre some of money.
Will post pics of this place soon. :) have a sunny day in Singapore.. It;s gloomy here..:)

"I swallow"
Just for info, swallow means :-
verb (used with object)
to take into the stomach by drawing through the throat and esophagus with a voluntary muscular action, as food, drink, or other substances.
Anyway, this goes to show the level of understanding she has over our first language (slang included) or should we blame the scriptwriter for being linguistically retarded? If zoe doesn't know what the slang word means for "swallow", i wonder what she will she tells her hubby when she wants to do the action of "inducing a phallic object called the penis with the intend of creating an artifical climatic orgasm called masterbation/blow job". hahaha...
Now i wonder if her hubby had abstained from any future oral services from her, cos whenever she does that, his mind will be filled with millions of singaporeans sniggering and laughing. Now, close your eyes and try to fathom the atmosphere of the scene.... Shame on u!!!!!!!!
Funny parody
This is an interesting parody i read.. if u still dunno what the poster in this forum is referring to, u are really uncaring about your own country. heh.
Today lunch time i order chicken rice, this stall owner is so good.
Normally his chicken rice is $2.50 per plate. He subsidized me $0.50 from the market rate and charge me only $2.00.
Next time must patronise more since the stall owner is such a caring person.
He also ask me to vote him as best chicken rice every 5 year if i want to continue to enjoy the subsidy. He will give out free chicken rice before the voting. If he wins the award, there might be some Adjustment to the pricing but dont worry, you will still be subsidized.http://forums.delphiforums.com/sammyboymod/messages?msg=129745.1

Definition of electronica (PROGRESSIVE HOUSE)
What is Progressive & Tribal?THE PROGRESSIVE HOUSE SOUND: The music itself consisted of the 4-to-4 beat of house music allied to deeper, dub-influenced basslines and a more melancholic, emotional edge. Often, the ethereal "swirly" textures of early trance could be heard in the mix, and various other elements from across the electronic spectrum. "Song of Life", for instance, has a trip-hop like down-pitched breakbeat and a high-energy Roland TB-303 riff at various stages.
THE HISTORY: Progressive house has its origins in Britain in the early 1990s. DJs - particularly Sasha and the then-unknown John Digweed - were instrumental in pushing the sound in its early days.
The centre-of-gravity of the sound, so to speak, has shifted over the years. After the release of Brian Transeau's (aka BT) debut album "Ima", for instance, the bulk of the style's records were in a more ethereal, melodic style. (That record was also an enormous influence on the nascent progressive trance sound.) Then, as trance became more and more popular and melodic, prog darkened and acted as a deliberately underground counterpoint, merging with tribal house to produce many very minimal percussive tracks as this decade kicked off (this also marked the return to the sound of Sasha and Digweed, who had picked up and popularised the progressive trance sound in the interim).
Since 2005, progressive house has largely taken a back-seat in the dance music world, with most of the scene's major DJs playing electro- and tech-house and minimal instead. http://www.mosdownload.com/genre.php?action=read&g=5

Definition of Electronica (TECHNO)
What is Techno?THE SOUND: Techno features an abundance of percussive, synthetic sounds, studio effects used as principal instrumentation, and, usually, a regular, 4/4 beat usually in the 130–140 bpm range—sometimes faster, but rarely slower. Some techno compositions have strong melodies and bass lines, but these features are not as essential to techno as they are to other dance genres, and it is not uncommon for techno compositions to deemphasize or omit them. Techno is also very DJ-friendly, being mainly instrumental, and produced with the intention of being incorporated into continuous DJ sets wherein different compositions are played with very long, synchronized segues. Although several other dance music genres can be described in such terms, techno has a distinct sound that aficionados can pick out very easily.
There are many ways to make techno, but a typical techno production is created using a compositional technique that developed to suit the genre's sequencer-driven, electronic instrumentation. While this technique is rooted in a Western music framework (as far as scales, rhythm and meter, and the general role played by each type of instrument), it does not typically employ traditional approaches to composition such as reliance on the playing of notes, the use of overt tonality and melody, or the generation of accompaniment for vocals. Some of the most effective techno music consists of little more than cleverly programmed drum patterns that interplay with different types of reverb and frequency filtering, mixed in such a way that it's not clear where the instrument's timbres end and the added effects begin.
THE HISTORY: Techno was primarily developed in basement studios by "The Belleville Three", a cadre of African-American men who were attending college, at the time, near Detroit, Michigan. The budding musicians – former high school friends and mixtape traders Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson – found inspiration in Midnight Funk Association, an eclectic, 5-hour, late-night radio program hosted on various Detroit radio stations from 1977 through the mid-1980s by DJ Charles "The Electrifying Mojo" Johnson. Mojo's show featured heavy doses of electronic sounds from the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, and Tangerine Dream, among others.
Though initially conceived as party music that was played on daily mixed radio programs and played at parties given by cliquish, Detroit high school clubs, it has grown to be a global phenomenon.
The music soon attracted enough attention to garner its own club, the Music Institute at 1315 Broadway in downtown Detroit. It was founded by Chez Damier, Derrick May and a few other investors. Though short-lived, this club was known internationally, for its all night sets, its sparse white rooms, and its juice bar stocked with "smart drinks"(the Institute never served liquor). Relatively quickly, techno began to be seen by many of its originators and up-and-coming producers as an expression of Future Shock post-industrial angst. It also took on increasingly high tech and science-fiction oriented themes.
The music's producers were using the word "techno" in a general sense as early as 1984 (as in Cybotron's seminal classic "Techno City"), and sporadic references to an ill-defined "techno-pop" could be found in the music press in the mid-1980s. However, it was not until Neil Rushton assembled the compilation Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit for Virgin Records (UK) in 1988 that the word came to formally describe a genre of music.http://www.mosdownload.com/genre.php?action=read&g=4
Just a rock but not to u
So what if yours is really a "clean" diamond? You are still indirectly fuelling the demands for the piece of stone. "Demand and supply".. And talk about dun eat shark's fin, dun this dun that. Can u add "no more diamonds" to your resolution of "How to make the world a better place to live in"? The term "if the buying stops, so will the killing" is so literal if u put it in this context.
Anyway, what is the girl's obsession with this rock? hmmm.. let me start. Firstly, size does matter.. the bigger the carat, the more valuable, just like how they like our manhood..hahah.. no? u disagree? okok? i am sure u will say, technique is more important.. Then i say, the value of a finished diamond is partly determined by the technique used by the diamond cutter's ability to cut the diamond in such a way that it will shine and glisten well. Just like how well girls will rate a guy's bedroom performance, TECHNIQUE.
Secondly, look at the uncut diamond above, how insignificant is it? like a piece of normal glass rite? But after all the man-made and artificial processes, it becomes a beautiful piece of glistening rock under light, catching attention everywhere.. Sounds like females rite? haha.. Need a lot of "add-ons" to make themselves appear better. I shall not be bothered to say those methods used. Most ppl will know and YES, i am hearing many ppl will disagree in this point again.. My suggestion, Close your eyes and think if what i said is true or not.. please go have a guilt trip... There's similarities in a diamond and a girl...
It's amazing how a girl will react when ppl start to talk about the diamond ring she is wearing..It's like a prove of her partner's affirmations on their love for each other based on that thing. Last but not least, i am just goin to say, a man will choose sex then have a piece of the rock anytime! whahahahaa

Collective thoughts of today
Anyone have problems with the air-conditioning in the MRT? Or should i rephrase. Anyone finds that the air-conditioning in the MRT too damn stuffy??? I seriously thinks it is really bad, especially the ones in the older trains(yes the one with the smaller seats). The temperature is really not comfortable(to me) at all and i was actually perspiring IN THE TRAIN! They have the cheek to increase the price of travelling in MRT and yet try to cost-cut and save on air-conditioning?
Dropping dead

Please judge, slap him with a big motha-fucking heavy sentences, put Durai in jail and let the murderers and raptists inside there dig his ass inside-out. Dun say i am evil, but he deserves it. Please get all the money he stolen from the public back to the ppl who are the original intended recipents.
Definitions of Electronica (TECH HOUSE)
OK, today Definitions of Electronica is on tech house. Well it's a sub-genre between the sound of house and the sound of techno. Not quite easy to distinguish, but i like it nevertheless..
What is Tech-House?THE SOUND: Although it uses the same basic structure as house, elements of the house 'sound' such as realistic jazz sounds (in deephouse) and booming kick drums are replaced with elements from techno such as shorter, deeper, darker and often distorted kicks, smaller, quicker hi-hats, noisier snares and more synthetic or acid sounding synth melodies from the TB-303, including raw electronic noises from distorted sawtooth and square wave oscillators.
The well known tech-house producer, Jean F. Cochois, also known as The Timewriter, has often used jazzy, soulful vocals and elements, and equally as much raw electronic sounds in his music. However, a rich techno-like kick and bassline seems to be a consistency amongst tech-house music.
THE HISTORY:The term Tech-House has proved controversial over the years as some say that the use of the expression has mutated to represent a very particular and narrow style of music (see above), rather than the broad-minded attitude and approach to DJing and production that the Tech-House scene once was during the mid-nineties. For this reason, certain artists such as Asad Rizvi no longer attach the term with their work, as they feel that popular perception of Tech-House is a vastly inaccurate representation of their work.

Definitions of Electronica (HOUSE)
So i will slowly post the definition of the many sub-genres of electronica in my blog. First to start off? HOUSE!!! Below are taken from the ministry of sound website
What is House?THE SOUND: The common element of house music is a prominent 4/4 beat (a prominent kick drum on every beat, also known as four-on-the-floor) generated by a drum machine or other electronic means (such as a sampler), together with a continuous, repeating (usually also electronically generated) bassline.
Typically added to this foundation are electronically generated sounds and samples of music such as jazz, blues and synth pop, as well as additional percussion. As new recordings adhering to this general style emerged, the house genre divided into a number of subcategories, some of which are described below.
THE HISTORY: House music is a style of electronic dance music, the earliest forms of which originated in the United States in the early- to mid-1980s. The name is said to derive from the Warehouse nightclub in Chicago, where the resident DJ, Frankie Knuckles, mixed classic disco and European synthpop recordings.
Club regulars referred to his selection of music as house music. However, since Frankie was not creating new music at that time, it has been argued that Chip E. in his early recording "It's House" defined this new form of electronic music and gave it the name house music. However, Chip E himself claims the name came from methods of labelling records at the Importes Etc record store he worked at in the early eighties. People would come in looking for music Knuckles played at the Warehouse, so eventually a sign was put up that said "As Heard At The Warehouse". Eventually it was shortened to simply "The House", and the name became the vernacular.

Squeeze in the train
I was sitting snugly on my seat when in comes big momma! yes she's big and no, i am not goin to say what race she is cos race is not the factor here. And Yes, she just have to choose to sit beside me.. Weahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! The train carriage i was in was the old type, which means the seats are generally smaller compared to the newer, more spacious ones. Am sure u should have encountered this situation before, unless u are those rich, resource guzzling ppl who actually owns a car and never been on a mrt before.
Can u imagine feeling thigh fats trying to envelop and swallow u up? And yes, that;s what her left thunder thighs are doin to my right thigh.. arrrhhhhh... I felt my privacy invaded, i was choked, i am suffocated!! Then she started to nod, passing her time in and out of sleep.. how sweet...
Humpty dumbty sat on the wall,
humpty dumbty had a great nod,
All the travellers' bodies, and all the travellers's space,
just kept on getting knocked, by her big-o-daze.

In Loving Memories
I;ve been to a few vets myself and yes, so many times, they were as clueless as me on what is wrong with sick animals, especially cats..As u ppl know, dogs are still the preferred choice of pets cos they are such babe magnets.. who can resist a little puppy running around the neighbourhood while u most likely to be greeted with a "get-out-of-my-face reply from 80% of cats. So dogs are more extensively studied and treated upon. I can find more valueable answers in the vast internet anytime if i see anything wrong with Ariel. And the worst thing is, cats hide their illnesses well until the very last moment when u noticed that something is wrong, it;s mostly too late.
Well it boils down to the very nature of their survival. Cats, being solitary animals (other than lions), have to hide their illnesses even when they are sick is because, a weak/sick lookin cat is highly to feel prey to other animals, and being solitary, unlike dogs, which are pack animals, they dun have the luxury of showing their weak side for fear of their own survival..
Anyway, hoped Thunder will have a happier life now...
The Arena
This picture sums it up. He must be thinking,"Oh dammit, now my popularity, or whatever is left of it, is goin to dip further!"
Anyway, The saving grace of the show is my sick indulgence of seeing a minnow school(loyang secondary) winning this round of battle against the everyone-thinks-they-are-so-fucking-smart big boys(raffles school). Hurray!!!! Am sure this is the correct move by the judges and Mediacock, given that the former mentioned school has more marketing value in the long run. 1 normal lookin, 1 butch lookin and extremely good-humored and the last one, a pretty young lass. Compared to the latter, which consisted of 1 expressionless boy, 1 expressionless boy and the last one, 1 expressionless boy, it's a no-brainer which team will help boost show ratings. hahahaha... Do they actually train these boys, who are considered the best in results to be this expressionless? Must be difficult to attain such good results given that young boys at that age are supposed to be rapturous creatures?
And yah, i am not goin to catch another episode of that anymore.. Thank u mediacock..
2007/2008 will be the year of the micro PCs

Tourette's syndrome
Bear with me
I HAVE been suffering from Tourette's syndrome since I was seven. At that age, I had only motor tics, which included twitching of the head and constant sniffing.
However, when I was 13, I started to have vocal tics, which included making weird noises. My condition worsened after I graduated from polytechnic.
I am 22 years old and, now and then, I give vent to a sudden outburst of 'arhhh!', or repeat words I hear or see on the bus, train and in public places.
I understand that people who are around me will get a fright. However, I get very disheartened when I try to explain that I have a nerve disorder. Many people in Singapore do not know about the syndrome; many think I am mentally ill.
I am doing national service and completed my Basic Military Training in Tekong recently. During those seven weeks, I shouted constantly at the very top of my voice, loud enough for recruits from other companies to hear.
I was lucky I had very supportive commanders and platoon mates. I was given the option to be downgraded from PES C to E but I declined as the people in my Raven Company were supportive and I was determined to prove that Tourette's sufferers are capable.
I would also like to thank Singapore Airlines for allowing me to fly on SQ322 on Sept 16 and on SQ319 on Sept 26 despite my shouting on board the plane before takeoff. I was able to settle down after takeoff and tried to sleep through the flight so as not to disturb the other passengers.
Will my shouting bouts get softer and fewer? Will I be able to hold a job with my diploma in IT from a local polytechnic? Will the local universities accept me? These are some of the many questions that worry me every day.
I hope the local media will publish more articles or show more programmes to publicise Tourette's syndrome.
During my recent trip to Britain, I found that many people there are aware of the syndrome. They would give me a smile or say, 'Was that Tourette's? It must be hard on you.'
Words like these make me feel better.
Tan Wei Zhi
Well just wanna let u ppl reading that this is Tourette's syndrome. I am sure most of you, in some time or another, came across someone with this condition. I came across 1 when i am serving my NS too. I was sergeant and he is a recruit. Well i did not came into contact with him much but i did remembered there's one time when i am supervising the area cleaning and his one of the guys doin it. i felt a little bad cos i realised that even a little agitation like "hey u guys, can you do faster?" will be able to trigger the involuntary twitching and muscle spasms. At that time, i have no idea the name of this condition, and now i know.. hoped u too!!! :)
pay increment or inflation adjustment?
"Dear Mr. Tan, With effect from blah blah blah, your bank loan interest rates will increase from blah blah blah to blah blah blah. Thank you for banking with us"
Well something like that. Anyway, the bank loan is financed by CPF, so most of you will think that i am not paying hard cash, so no problem. But i still need to earn more money so that i will have more $$$ inside my CPF account rite?
Then the following week after this wonderful news, GST is slated to increase from 5% to 7%. Whao... double whammy... Plans are also underway to increase public transport pricing and am sure whatever the government can increase. So i come to the point of thinking that, any pay increments are actually to help in inflation adjustments in the future. It's like u are earning more, but actually not earning more in the end. U are actually back to square one. But i do pity those ppl who actually have $50 pay increments, which is actually quite common for company to pay. Sigh
Portable Cellular Phone Antenna or issit a tombstone/tablet?
Ok this is a Wireless cell phone antenna that boosts reception and helps to eliminate dropped calls. Nope the point of this post is not if this works or do we really need this. But, what the hell is the company or designer even thinking? I mean, it's amazing this design is able to survive from sketching to production stage without any strong objection from anyone in the company, is a miracle by itself.. I am sure everyone will find the resemblance of a tombstone or a tablet which chinese use for ancestral worship? I seriously think the designer must be missing his old hometown, his family and his ancestors to come out with something like this.. even the stand of the product looks exactly like the tablet (see below).
As designers, i think we should exercise more responsibilities on the things that we design, and show some tactfulness and creativity in our works.. For me, the design of this product gets a "FUCK OFF" award..
