Who needs iphone?

who needs an iphone when u got this!? it;s made by Meizu, a chinese company that makes portable mp3 and multi-media players. I say this design is smiliar to the iphone, but i dun care if u say this is a rip-off or copy, but this company can make it smaller than the iphone, cheaper than iphone, just as nice as the iphone. This goes to show how much Apple had been trying to squeeze your hard-earned money from u everytime u decided to slurge on their expensive products. Anyway, both the iphone and meizu one will be on sale early next year, guess who will win? Apple of course, cos of all u posers out there!Monday, February 26, 2007

social dilema?
"GRIEF-STRICKEN relatives of a brain-dead man on Tuesday begged that his organs not be taken - and then got into a tussle with hospital staff when their request was rejected.
They were praying for a miracle, hoping that Mr Sim Tee Hua, 43, would awake from his coma.
But the crane operator was declared brain dead at 6.20pm on Monday - four days after he collapsed at work last Thursday.
The cause of death: a stroke, or brain haemorrhage.
When doctors at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) said on Monday that they were going to remove his organs, the family requested that they wait for 24 hours - and the doctors agreed.
After that time was up, the family asked for another 24 hours, but doctors felt that a delay would make the organs unusable for transplant and went ahead with the operation.
Under the Human Organ Transplant Act (Hota) amended in July 2004, kidneys, livers, hearts and corneas suitable for transplant can be removed from all Singaporeans and permanent residents upon their death - unless they have opted out. Muslims are exempted because of religious reasons.
Mr Sim had not opted out of the programme, so his family was powerless to stop his organs from being removed.
But they tried their best.
Lianhe Wanbao reported that around 20 members of Mr Sim's family intervened when his body was being wheeled into the operating theatre at about 10.15pm on Tuesday. His mother and five other relatives went down on their knees to beg doctors to delay the operation for one more day.
But when their request was denied, emotions ran high and the police were called. An aunt tried to bite a police officer in the arm.
Nine police officers and about 10 hospital security staff members were involved in the three-hour confrontation before the matter was resolved peacefully and doctors performed the operation.
Mr Sim's sister, Ms Shen Qiu Xia, 45, told Lianhe Wanbao: 'We were actually prepared to accept that he was dead if his condition did not get better by Wednesday night.
'Although he was brain-dead, his body was still warm and my mother said that she felt he would awake from the coma.' She added that he had no previous major illnesses and that he had planned to marry a girlfriend in her 30s from China's Hainan island.
A Health Ministry spokesman told The Straits Times yesterday: 'Where possible, doctors will accommodate a family's request for a grace period as death is usually a difficult time for them. However, the transplant team will have to balance this with the need to save the lives of organ failure patients.'
Brain death is defined as a complete and irreversible cessation of brain activity. When this happens, a person can be declared dead even if the heart continues to beat due to life support measures.
The kidneys taken from Mr Sim's body were given to two patients. One, a 55-year-old man, was on the transplant waiting list for about six years. The other is a 49-year-old man who had been waiting for almost eight years.
Mr Sim's corneas will be transplanted in the next few days.
Largely due to the amendments to Hota, the number of patients awaiting a kidney transplant dropped from 673 in 2003 to 605 in mid-2006.
In the two years to July 2006, at least 130 people have received transplants under the revised Act.
Anyone who does not want his organs to be taken after his death can register with the Ministry of Health. The opt-out form can be obtained from all public hospitals and polyclinics or from the Organ Donor Registry at SGH."
what are your thought about this article? humane or inhumane? well for your info, if u did not sign the OPT-OUT form for the organ removal thingy, u might end up like Mr Sim.. Our great government, made this scheme that, by default, u agreed to donate your organ in the case if u are dead, unless u sign the opt-out form. And i believe lots of ppl are ignorant of this scheme, u agree? I feel that it's like making use of ppl's ignorance or the "i-am-busy-i'll-sign-the-form-another-day" attitude.
Yes, to donate your organ to others when u are totally dead is fine, but in this case, that person is not dead yet, heart still beating, his just in a COMA.. He might even be aware of his surroundings even though he cant react to it.. Just imagine yourself in his case.
please ppl, the opt-out form is here (the 3rd PDF file)http://www.moh.gov.sg/corp/systems/organ/hota/forms.do
please do not procrastinate and fill it up if u are uncomfortable about having your organs removed even though u might not be dead yet. For me, i am sure very very uncomfortable with it..

Locals in Korea
A is the manager-level guy of the group. Being more senior in age and position, he keeps himself away from all the lamenting from his fellow colleagues, including me. haha. When issues of sex were talked about(what else do u expect 4 lonely guys to talk about?), he will pretty much keep his comments to himself, but u can see the glimmer in his eyes how interested this topic is to him. haha..And i can see him trying hard to control his urge to visit a "girl" here. Well, he was given a namecard of some dubious services(in korean, dun understand, but it had a 100,000won priced service written in BOLD), which he showed to us days ago and he showed to us again just now It;s still in his pocket!!! ahha. Well he tries to stay optimistic when the project is almost down the drain, though u know his not feeling that way, cos as the project manager, his ass is on the line more than ours. To quote his favourite words, "Life goes on"
B is a tall guy, well his a malaysian, looks ok, but still unattached. Maybe what i am goin to write might be the reason behind it? yes, B talks loudly, very loudly. haha.. imagine being in a small eatery full of Koreans, and then this guy starts talking loudly, very loudly, in chinese, and yes, with the malaysian accent, and u know how awkward the situation is. I hate to stick out in a foreign country. i dunno about u, but i cannot take it lah.. haha
C is also malaysian, yah yah yah... But his accent is much worse than B. So i practically have to endure hours of malaysian chinese talk.. Maybe i might start to talk like that now without me realising it. If u hear any of that accent coming out of my mouth, please slap me.. Thank u very much, :) Anyway, the problem with C is not the accent, but his eating habits. he eats loudly!!!! 1 talks loudly, the other eats loudly.. phew... His those kind that dun close his mouth when he chews, and the resulting noise it creates, is unbearable. I can feel the angst in me growing everyday. But, as what i found out, there is always a cause and an effect, action vs. reaction. Cos last nite while we were having fried chicken for dinner at the small eatery(the one which B talks loudly in), i suddenly realised, because B talks so loudly, his voice drowns the eating sound of C. Amazing, i looked at his chewing mouth, yet i cant hear nothin! hahaha
anyway, we were joined by 2 fellow colleagues in office today, D and E. D is interesting as of now, and he was suggesting we go ski-ing this weekend. We shall see. E will be goin back to singapore (envy envy) tomorrow and he really needs a lip moisturiser badly. His been licking his lips the whole day (due to the dry weather) and it;s really looking like 2 pieces of taiwanese sausages by now.
Ok that;s all for now and it;s 12.06am here!!! dammit, personal time flies!!!

self-reliance in Seoul, Korea.
it;s Saturday, not much work, and the rest of my colleagues were out sight-seeing. I opt to stay in hotel. Was having a bad headache just now, guess the late working hours is bad for health. heh.. imagine returning to your hotel room only at 11plus am everynight. Anyway, there;s a difference between a business trip and a holiday. The mood is just not there to go out and have fun. Furthermore, the project is in jeopardy and i might just return back home tomorrow instead of Tuesday as planned..
Who says Korean food is nice? Come try the food i have been eating and u will agree with me it;s not. Cos i am in the client;s office, i eat my meals in the staff canteens, as with all other Koreans. I tell u, choice is not a luxury there. 3 dishes, 1 soup and rice is your only choice. there is no choice for u to choose, just take the tray, metal spoon, metal chopsticks(i hate), Q up, take the food which was dispensed to you by the kitchen staffs, sit down, finish the food, clear the plates yourself, and grab a cup of weird Korean tea(i think). Food in the army is way much better! Some of the dish is extra spicy i tell u, even my Korean colleagues said so. Buay tahan.
I noticed, all the Korean workers will finish all the food which they take, Men and Women alike. Seems like they are not a bunch of wasteful lot. And yes, i dun like kimchi and all the pickled vegetables served everytime. Dishes containing any meat is quite scarce in the staff canteens. Maybe it;s cheaper or maybe it;s the way of life of the Koreans. They seemed to prefer vege? Guess maybe it's due to the fact that that they were at war 30 odd years ago and somehow, what they eat during those hard times had become a way of life for them now.
I noticed also, you can hardly find any foreign workers here. In singapore, there;s always FTs (foreign talents) in almost every occupation, some more some less. Down here, from executives to your humble plate cleaners are Koreans. i believe Singapore is a unique case where we think that we are too good for certain jobs that we need foreign talents/foreign labourers to help us achieve efficiency in our society? What if 1 day, they are all gone? Maybe their salary in their country gets much better and the idea of going overseas to work for a living is not feasible to them anymore. Who will we rely on to clean up our mess everywhere? Who will build our houses for us to live in? Dun we have to rely on ourselves again, like we used to do ourselves many years ago? Dun worry, it will not happen, because there;s always the rich and the poor in the world. the rich will always gets to enjoy the hardship of the poor who slogs so much more for a meagre some of money.
Will post pics of this place soon. :) have a sunny day in Singapore.. It;s gloomy here..:)

"I swallow"
I found it!!!!!!!!!!!!! whahahahaha!!!! The infamous advert that is so funny it makes me sick.. Now she must be crying foul over the big hoo-haa this advert had everyone sniggering and laughing. She must be thinking, "Is there any better word to describe the action of inducing substances, than the simple word called "swallow"?Just for info, swallow means :-
verb (used with object)
to take into the stomach by drawing through the throat and esophagus with a voluntary muscular action, as food, drink, or other substances.
Anyway, this goes to show the level of understanding she has over our first language (slang included) or should we blame the scriptwriter for being linguistically retarded? If zoe doesn't know what the slang word means for "swallow", i wonder what she will she tells her hubby when she wants to do the action of "inducing a phallic object called the penis with the intend of creating an artifical climatic orgasm called masterbation/blow job". hahaha...
Now i wonder if her hubby had abstained from any future oral services from her, cos whenever she does that, his mind will be filled with millions of singaporeans sniggering and laughing. Now, close your eyes and try to fathom the atmosphere of the scene.... Shame on u!!!!!!!!
Funny parody
This is an interesting parody i read.. if u still dunno what the poster in this forum is referring to, u are really uncaring about your own country. heh.
Today lunch time i order chicken rice, this stall owner is so good.
Normally his chicken rice is $2.50 per plate. He subsidized me $0.50 from the market rate and charge me only $2.00.
Next time must patronise more since the stall owner is such a caring person.
He also ask me to vote him as best chicken rice every 5 year if i want to continue to enjoy the subsidy. He will give out free chicken rice before the voting. If he wins the award, there might be some Adjustment to the pricing but dont worry, you will still be subsidized.http://forums.delphiforums.com/sammyboymod/messages?msg=129745.1

Definition of electronica (PROGRESSIVE HOUSE)
What is Progressive & Tribal?THE PROGRESSIVE HOUSE SOUND: The music itself consisted of the 4-to-4 beat of house music allied to deeper, dub-influenced basslines and a more melancholic, emotional edge. Often, the ethereal "swirly" textures of early trance could be heard in the mix, and various other elements from across the electronic spectrum. "Song of Life", for instance, has a trip-hop like down-pitched breakbeat and a high-energy Roland TB-303 riff at various stages.
THE HISTORY: Progressive house has its origins in Britain in the early 1990s. DJs - particularly Sasha and the then-unknown John Digweed - were instrumental in pushing the sound in its early days.
The centre-of-gravity of the sound, so to speak, has shifted over the years. After the release of Brian Transeau's (aka BT) debut album "Ima", for instance, the bulk of the style's records were in a more ethereal, melodic style. (That record was also an enormous influence on the nascent progressive trance sound.) Then, as trance became more and more popular and melodic, prog darkened and acted as a deliberately underground counterpoint, merging with tribal house to produce many very minimal percussive tracks as this decade kicked off (this also marked the return to the sound of Sasha and Digweed, who had picked up and popularised the progressive trance sound in the interim).
Since 2005, progressive house has largely taken a back-seat in the dance music world, with most of the scene's major DJs playing electro- and tech-house and minimal instead. http://www.mosdownload.com/genre.php?action=read&g=5
